Hi, I’m Katie.

For the worldly stuff: I earned my M.D. from Columbia University, completed my surgical training at Massachusetts General Hospital where I then joined the staff, and then shocked my colleagues — and myself — by abandoning my career in trauma surgery to homeschool my kids.

From a more substantive perspective: I’m broken and lost. I fail daily.  But I am forgiven in Christ, and through Him, awash in love.

I’m a regular contributor to desiring God, and have also written for Christianity Today and The Gospel Coalition. An index of my articles appears here.  I’m presently writing a book on end-of-life care through a Christian lens, due from Crossway in 2019.

On this blog, you’ll find thoughts on faith, medicine, motherhood, and moments in life that demand remembering.  Most of all, I’d love to connect with you. I hope some of the content here moves you, just as the fellowship with readers has so touched me.

Thank you for visiting. May God bless you and yours.
