About

Hi, I’m Katie.

For the worldly stuff: I earned my M.D. from Columbia University, completed my surgical and critical care training at Massachusetts General Hospital where I then joined the staff, and then abandoned work in academic surgery to homeschool my kids, one of whom is twice exceptional.

From a more substantive perspective: I’m broken and lost. I fail daily.  But I am forgiven in Christ, and through Him, awash in love.

I’m a regular contributor to desiring God, and have also written for Christianity Today and The Gospel Coalition. An index of my articles appears here.  My book Between Life and Death: A Gospel-Centered Guide to End-of-Life Medical Care will be released by Crossway in April 2019.

On this blog, you’ll find thoughts on faith, medicine, motherhood, and moments in life that demand remembering.  Most of all, I’d love to connect with you. I hope some of the content here moves you, just as the fellowship with readers has so touched me.

Thank you for visiting. May God bless you and yours.
